Daniel Ooi

For over 10 years, Daniel has developed his unique approach to health through practices in various locations around Melbourne. He views health as a holistic process, treating individuals as a whole rather than solely addressing problems as they arise.

In his practice at Komyuniti, Daniel helps individuals not only with acute pain and surface-level issues but also with deep-seated chronic conditions that impact both the mind and body. He is not clinical, cold, or boring. On the contrary, he is warm, nurturing, and strives to empower people to overcome their ailments. Daniel aims to enhance their understanding of the intricate interactions within the body, encouraging them to transform their perspective on themselves and their approach to health and well-being.

By combining traditional East Asian medicine with current evidence-based medical research, Daniel provides holistic treatment to his patients. His arsenal of techniques includes acupuncture, dry needling, moxibustion, herbal medicines, massage, neuro-emotional technique, and the Emmett technique. Daniel customises and adapts his approach to suit each individual’s needs, ensuring tailored and effective treatments.

Daniel possesses expertise in a wide range of acupuncture styles, such as Master Tung, Dr. Tan, Neoclassical, Kiiko, Japanese, dry needling, motor-point, laser, and electro acupuncture. With a focus on sports medicine and musculoskeletal injuries, he approaches clients in a manner similar to a physical therapist, using acupuncture to restore the body’s biomechanics. Additionally, he can also apply a gentle Japanese approach when addressing internal diseases, ranging from stress and digestion to gynaecological ailments. This technique is particularly suitable for patients who are afraid of needles or sensitive to pain. The Japanese approach involves needling methods that range from pain-free to non-insertive and superficial insertion techniques. No matter your concerns about acupuncture, Daniel can provide a solution, offering an effective, relaxing, and therapeutic experience.

In his herbal prescriptions, Daniel follows the systematic approach of the Shang Han Lun and Jingui Yaolue, the original methods of traditional Chinese herbal medicine. By skill-fully diagnosing the pulse, he formulates decoctions that optimize the major body systems, including the muscular, skeletal, nervous, endocrine, lymphatic, respiratory, cardiovascular, digestive, urinary, and reproductive systems.

If you’re interested in embarking on your health journey with Daniel, you can reach out to him via email or submit a booking enquiry. He will respond to you as soon as possible.

Tiana Demetriou is an acupuncturist and Chinese medicine herbalist (BHSc). She is inspired by Chinese medicine’s capacity to offer the body a system in which to unfold and restore. Through her own personal experience managing a chronic health condition, Tiana learned the value of using a multi-disciplinary approach to leverage the body’s intelligence.
